- Smaller header
- Catchy headline
- Great content in a readable font. Verdana
- Separate thoughts with paragraphs or create lists. People like lists.
- Chunk test and leave lots of white space
- Use images when you can. Everyone loves a good visual
- Should be able to get to where they need to go on your site within 2 clicks.
Mistakes… Easy to make, easy to fix
Cluttered, colour shock, loud,m pop ups, cartoony, boring, slow, tiny font, huge header, dark,
artsy font, confusing
don’t make it hard to read.
Fonts may not come up on different browsers. Browsers read different versions of fonts.
Sans serif fonts look great online.
Serif have little hooks that maybe blurry
2-3 fonts should be enough for a blog.
Don’t over font your site
Use colour but make it readable.
Colours should be in the same range.
Continuity of colour is important
Carry through the colours from your header
Lots of white space is good
Can put social media stuff in your header to save space
What should readers find
The banner, navigation area, sidebars and footer are there to present information.

Email subscribe / newsletter
Categories (golden number is 7, but aim for 7 – 10)
Your shop or product – make sure you give your stuff prominence
Links to Others
Blog Rolls – better to do a sep page of blogs you like with a comment. works better for readers and the other bloggers than just being a list or a badge
If you have lots of naviagtion you can try having nav tabs above and below header
Mighty girls – categories are in the header
make it and love it – icons in the header and has recent posts and top posts very high up

Make your content easy for people to share add buttons etc at the end of your posts
